Not the post I was going to write, but I'm just back from a trip to A & E. You would never believe I used to be a dancer, I tripped over my own feet coming up the garden steps this morning after putting some washing on the line.
As they are shallow steps there was no chance to break my fall with my hands and I landed with all my weight on my right knee - on the edge of a concrete step. You know that sick feeling you get when something REALLY hurts? - yeah.
Thankfully the prognosis is good, no breakages, just heavy bruising. Ice, Ibuprofen and gentle exercising of the joint followed by physio. The doctor was great, though a little too cheerful when he told me that it was going to hurt quite a lot for the next few days.
Still, this is here
So the plan for the rest of the day is to get Girasole off the needles - though it may be a while before it gets blocked, kneeling is a little - umm problematic at the moment.
Then it is on to finishing up the test knit of Moonfleet, fitting in clue 3 of Evenstar and then there is the matter of 3 ladies that I know who are all expecting.
I have ordered some Sugar n Creme cotton form the US and I may have gone overboard and bought Mason Dixon ( for the bibs and the burp pads) and itty bitty hats ( for - well the hats) and the plan is to make my travelling/lunchtime knitting all these little things for the next few months.
The main problem I have is that none of them know what sex they are having - so everything is going to be whites and creams and yellows ... yawn...
Picked up some pretty yellow DK yesterday to make a couple of shrug type cardis, an interesting conversation with several young mums about the most useful things that people knitted them flagged this one up. Lots of young mums use slings and papoose type things these days and while most of the baby is snug and warm, the arms tend to be waving in the breeze. Having that extra layer, just where it is needed is apparently just the thing :-)
So my plans for this weekend are fairly boring. Sit and knit and try to keep out of trouble. Shame the weather is so nice, I should really be out walking...
A nice denim blue is good for both sexes also. I made a couple of MDK bibs (I reduced the numbers by about 1/3 to make a newborn size and now make one in each size) in elann denim and paired them with a burb cloth in a sugar and cream (or peaches and cream- I have a stockpile of both so I get them mixed up) varigated creams to blues that looks like faded denim. I put cute Peter Rabbit buttons on the bibs and my friend used them for her daughter and is now using them for her brand new son. A bright orange bib with a duck button or green with a froggy button would be cute too. I like the shrug cardi idea. Even in a stroller, the little arms always seem to work their way out from under the blankets. (Maybe you could attach little mitts to the sleeves!) Hope the knee feels better soon. I've done that before on a set of concrete stairs- sooo not fun.

Ouch! Sorry to hear about the knee. Don't forget green, orange, brown and purple.

I hope your knee feels better quickly - ouch!
Oh, bibs are probably the most appreciated baby item I've ever made. People are always telling me how much they love those bibs.

Owie. My uncle was familiar with a Guernsey hospital when they were on holiday there about a million years ago. I was unsurprised when my mum told me that!
I agree with the others about denim blue, orange and possibly purple should all serve duty for either gender (didn't want to get caught in spam).

Ouch indeed.
Hope you are back to normal very soon.
I'm knitting baby stuff for a friend of a friend, and will look for a shrug type thingy right away. The MDK kimono pattern sleeves have too many 'steps' for me, will be pulling that back! Mattress seams won't cure it.

Ouch, my knee hurts just from reading that. Glad there isn't any severe injury, though I hope you are already feeling better.
I'd also say a light denim as well as lilac and of course all kinds of variagated yarns go well for both boy and girl.
Have fun knittin, put your leg up with some ice and have a nice cup aof tea! And have a great weekend.

Feel better - that sounds painful! It looks like you'll have enough to keep you busy while you mend.

Getting there - just have to remember NOT to kneel down
