Christmas doesn't seem to be creeping up on me it seems to be galloping up at a rate of knots! Less than two weeks to go and I am trying not to panic.
I have ordered all the meat and deli items from my favourite local shop - I travel right across the island every week to buy my meat and cheese at this shop. It is a little independant local run shop that has been in the same family for years.
I haven't even started on the Christmas cards yet, I must try and print out all the labels over the next few days if only to give me the illusion that everything is under control.
On the knitting front I'm getting there,
2 1/2 socks to go plus the leg warmers and the fingerless gloves
However....
I was desperate to have a go at the Jaywalker pattern - I have yarn to make a pair for me but I couldn't justify starting them until the Christmas stuff is done. While knitting MIL's socks I was perusing the pattern - for when I could get started - when three little words jumped out at me
Self Striping Yarn
Well all the yarn that I am knitting for Christmas is self striping so why wait until I am done.
I give you Jaywalker 1, made using Opal Elemente. - I love this pattern!
It is so easy to memorise it is not much differnet to mindless stocking stitch but gives such cool results
In fact I like it so much I think I might rip back MIL's sock and re knit them using this pattern. Sucker for punishment or what?
It is 12 days to Christmas. Resist the urge to rip out completed gifts!!

I'm gonna have to say, don't rip it out. If it's already done stick with that. Most people that are not knitters think we do all the striping in the socks anyway.

I LOVE the way the Jaywalkers are looking in that self-patterning yarn! LOVE it! I would love to include a photo in the gallery once you're done with the pair - please drop me a line!
